Marco Miller, one of the 17 defendants who were freed in the One Don Gang Trial, was killed by the police during an alleged confrontation in Rivoli, St Catherine last evening.
Mr Miller - otherwise called Izzy, and Alex Phillipot, otherwise called Toby, both of Bucktown, were shot about 9 pm.
The police say a shotgun and a Smith and Wesson pistol with a magazine containing two 9mm rounds were seized.
Residents blocked the Bucktown road to protest against the fatal shooting this morning.
They lit debris which prevented access to Eltham, Ensom City and Gordon Pen from that road.
That road was subsequently cleared by the security forces.
A cousin of Mr Phillipot's says the shooting inside his house was not justified.
The Independent Commission of Investigations and Inspectorate of Professional Standards Oversight Bureau are investigating.
