The Jamaica Constabulary Force says a thorough investigation is underway into Sunday's fatal shooting of a woman at Versailles Hotel in May Pen, Clarendon which involves a Constable attached to the Specialised Operations Branch.
The JCF says the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness.
It was reported that the cop gave conflicting accounts in relation to the death of 20-year-old Jimoy Suckoo, a bartender from Westmoreland.
His accounts suggest it was an accidental discharge of his service pistol.
The JCF says the Independent Commission of Investigations has taken charge of the investigation, and it is fully cooperating to ensure transparency and accountability.
The Police High Command has extended condolences to the family of Ms. Suckoo and says further updates will be provided as deemed appropriate by the investigative authorities.
