A policeman and two Haitian nationals have been arrested in connection with the seizure of a quantity of compressed ganja in the St. Elizabeth Police division on Thursday.
The constable, who is attached to the Port Antonio Marine Division, is expected to be charged along with the Haitian men, who did not have any form of identification.
According to the police, a robust internal narcotics investigation, conducted by the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch, led to arrests of the three men.
It's reported that a grey Toyota Hiace bus with the constable and the Haitians aboard was intercepted.
Fourteen knitted bags of compressed ganja, weighing more than 227 kilogrammes or 500 pounds were seized.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force has warned that this arrest underscores its relentless pursuit of criminals, regardless of their uniform or position.
The JCF says there is no room in the force for individuals with criminal intent who display a willingness to compromise the privileged position they occupy as members of the organisation.
