The Jamaic Public Service Company [JPS] has disclosed that efforts to restore power to customers affected by by Tropical Storm Rafael are being hampered by heavy rains and strong winds, affecting sections of the island.
JPS says it has taken proactive steps to deploy teams and resources to facilitate safe and quick responses.
But it says the company has been experiencing delays as the storm continues to dump rain as it moves away from the island.
JPS President & CEO, Hugh Grant says teams have been hampered by flooding and landslides in several communities.
He says, in some instances crews have had to stop working because of blocked roads.
Customers are being urged to report downed power lines and outages to JPS using the MyJPS Mobile App, or social media channels @myjpsonline, or by calling 888-225-5577.
