Ralph Thomas has been appointed Jamaica’s new Ambassador to the United States. He is expected to assume duties early next month.
Ambassador Thomas, who is currently Jamaica’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, replaces Ambassador Stephen Vascianne.
Foreign Affairs Minister Senator A. J. Nicholson, in announcing the appointment, said Ambassador Thomas served in China during an important time for Jamaica/China relations, especially in the area of economic development.
Senator Nicholson said he expects Ambassador Thomas to bring this level of critical thinking and creative energy to the relationship with the US, one of Jamaica's major international partners.
