The Realtors Association of Jamaica has not joined the call for a tax on the local Airbnb sector, but it says a review of their operations is necessary.
Roger Allen, Second Vice President of the Realtors Association, says the organisation is also not calling for the sector to be regulated but "like anything else, you need to review, you need to assess what is happening and, of course, take the necessary steps."
Mr. Allen, who was speaking Wednesday on TVJ's Smile Jamaica, was responding to calls from the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) for the Airbnb sector to be taxed and regulated.
He said all the concerns should be considered objectively in the review to be done.
According to Mr. Allen, the Realtors Association predicts that the Airbnb sector will continue to grow in Jamaica.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett has yet to respond to the latest call from the JHTA.
