School principal Errol Bascoe charged with buggery

Principal of Tacky High School Errol Bascoe has been charged with buggery.

Mr Bascoe was taken into custody earlier on Sunday and later charged with the offence.

He remains in custody and is booked to appear in court on Thursday.

He's represented by attorneys Valerie Neita Robertson and Oswest Senior Smith.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that Mr Bascoe surrendered to the St Mary Police Sunday afternoon, in the company of his attorneys.

His arrest came after allegations were made against him by a 23-year-old man.

Mr Bascoe resigned as the People's National Party's provisional parliamentary candidate for Western St Mary on the weekend, in the wake of the allegations.

In his letter submitted to PNP President Mark Golding, he described the allegations made against him as scurrilous and malicious.

Mr Bascoe said he decided to quit his role with the PNP, recognising the potential impact of the issue on the party's reputation and his need to dispute the accusations.

The PNP, in response, acknowledged and accepted Mr Bascoe's resignation.
