Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced a major project to reconfigure sections of the North Coast Highway to ease congestion in key towns along the thoroughfare.
Mr. Holness says the National Road Operating and Constructing Company (NROCC) has commenced project planning activities for the upgrade of 60 kilometres of roadway from Sea Castles in St. James to Mammee Bay in St. Ann from two lanes to four lanes.
A 21 kilometre four-lane bypass will also be constructed for the congested towns of Discovery Bay and Runaway Bay.
Mr. Holness said the project will be funded from the national budget with construction to begin in the 2023/2024 fiscal year.
