Security guard arrested on multiple gun-related charges

A 41-year-old security guard is facing multiple gun-related charges after being picked up during a police operation in Zaidie Gardens, Kingston 10, on Friday.

Keven Smith, of Scotia Pathway, Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11, is facing charges of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorised Possession of
Ammunition, and Unauthorised Use of Blue Light.

The Half Way Police report that, about 11:30 p.m., a team of officers was on operation in the community when they observed Smith driving a red Kia Seltos motor car with flashing blue lights.

He was signalled to stop, and he complied. Smith was then informed of the
offense, and upon exiting the vehicle, the lawmen observed bulges on both sides of his waist.

A search of his person led to the discovery of a Taurus G2C firearm with an affixed magazine containing four rounds. A Glock magazine containing one cartridge was also reportedly found.

Following the seizures, Smith was taken into custody and charged after he failed to provide documentation for the firearm and ammunition.
