A Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier is under investigation by the military and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) following the shooting of his girlfriend during a domestic dispute on Monday in Kingston.
The 25-year-old woman has been admitted to hospital after being shot in the leg.
The incident occured on Crescent Road in the St. Andrew South Police Division about 7 p.m.
It's reported that the 40-year-old JDF Corporal and his partner, a nail technician, got into a heated argument.
The dispute escalated where the woman allegedly threw stones and bottles at the soldier who then pulled his licensed firearm.
It's reported that the soldier slipped and his firearm accidentally discharged a single round, hitting the woman in her right leg.
The soldier is scheduled to be questioned by investigators.
