Some security guards stay off the job

 

The Jamaica Association for Private Security Guards (JAPS) is claiming that its call for members to call in sick today is gaining traction.

 

This latest protest is in response to the delay in upgrading the employment status of security guards following the Supreme Court ruling in September.

 

JAPS President Teddylee Gray says operations at one university in the Corporate Area have been affected by the sick-out.

 

"We see people reporting that the duty officers, persons who set duty, they’re having issues finding persons to turn up for duties this morning. Some places – we don’t want to call any names, but one of the major university in Kingston - we see screenshots and reports where they’re having difficulties in finding security officers to turn up this morning," he revealed.

 

He was speaking today on the Morning Agenda on Power 106.
