The St. Ann Chamber of Commerce says it is committed to the revitalisation of the resort town of Ocho Rios.

President of the Chamber, Dr. Ransford Davidson, said plans are in place to raise the profile of the resort town, adding that its economic potential is yet to be realised.

"Ocho Rios is one of the gems in Jamaica. When you think of the natural resources, when you think of how the place is seen from an international perspective, there must be focused attention in ensuring that we improve on the environment, in ensuring that the space is clean because let's face it, we have not done well over the last few years to ensure that Ocho Rios is maintained at the quality standard that it should be maintained at," he admitted.

He said the chamber of commerce as well as the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association are moving to deal with some of the issues.

One of the activities planned is a mass cleanup exercise on December 15.
