The government of St. Kitts and Nevis is moving to reduce the level of lawlessness on the roads of the twin island federation.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrence Drew says 13 people lost their lives in road collisions last year.
Dr. Drew says given the size of the country the level of breaches of the Road Traffic Act is untenable.
"It seems like some people are not following the traffic rules and therefore we have to use the legislative avenue to make sure that we get people to comply and this is also a means to deter those who would otherwise violate the traffic rules. So we are going to have automated ticketing systems. We already have some cameras out, you know. All you're going to do, you think you drive fast and nobody see you, you're going to just get your ticket in the mail," he warned.
