St. Lucia records three COVID-19 deaths

Health authorities in St. Lucia have confirmed three deaths linked to the coronavirus as the country records an increase in the number of people presenting with flu-like illnesses at medical facilities.

The Ministry of Health said the increase in cases is due to new COVID-19 variants, Influenza A and B, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus.

The increase in hospitalisations and deaths due to COVID-19 has occurred over the last 14 days.

The announcement by the health authorities in St. Lucia comes as the Caribbean Public Health Agency has expressed concern about people easing their surveillance mechanisms and early warning systems.
