Suspect in March Pen Road double murder fatally shot by police

A man who was listed as a suspect in the Christmas Day double murder along March Pen Road, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, was fatally shot during a police operation on Friday morning.

He has been identified as 43-year-old Damion McDonald, otherwise called 'Jilla', a resident of March Pen Road.

The police reported that around 12:20 a.m., officers acting on intelligence linked to the Christmas Day killings went to Mocklenn Crescent in search of suspects.

On entering a residence and knocking on the back door, police say they saw McDonald pointing a weapon at them, so they took defensive action and fired at him.

He was shot and an illegal gun seized.

McDonald was taken to Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He had been listed as a person of interest in connection with Thursday's gun attack along March Pen Road in which 30-year-old bar operator Shaniel Myers and 28-year-old chef Shamar Hall, were killed.

They were shot by men carrying rifles and handguns.

The killings marked the second double murder in the March Pen Road community within a month.
