The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing three police fatal shootings in two separate incidents in St. Andrew on Friday morning.

Two men were killed in the first incident along Shooters Hill Road in Seven Miles, Bull Bay.

Assistant Commissioner Michael Phipps, head of the Area 4 Police Division, says one of the men is unidentified.

The other man is Marv McLaughlin, otherwise called 'Indian', who was said to be a high-ranking member of the Toby Gully gang.

ACP Phipps said Mr. McLaughlin was linked to several incidents of crime, including robbery involving Beryllium couriers and a double murder in which both parents of a police officer were killed in St. Thomas.

It's reported that about 2:30 a.m., a police team on mobile patrol signalled the driver of a grey Nissan motor car to stop. But the police say the car sped off and the occupants opened fire.

The fire was returned and the car crashed in an embankment.

The exchange of gunfire continued.

Two men were later found with bullet wounds.

They were pronounced dead at hospital.

One firearm and ammunition was recovered in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Area 4 Fugitive Apprehension Task Force said a man was fatally shot and a firearm seized during an alleged confrontation in Salisbury Plain, Red Hills.

He has been identified as Kemar Lewis, also called 'Wushu' of the same community.

A Glock 19 9mm pistol with a magazine containing four rounds was allegedly taken from him.

The police team said it carried out an intelligence-led operation in the Salisbury Plain community during which Mr. Lewis was fatally shot.

ACP Phipps said Mr. Lewis had been on the police's radar for several years, including for harbouring a fugitive who was being sought for a double murder. He said the fugitive was being sought when Mr. Lewis was shot.

"[The incident happened] during a targeted raid in which one of Kingston Eastern's most wanted, Demoy Shirley, otherwise called 'Ageable', who is linked to several crimes within the Kingston Eastern and Kingston Central Divisions, [was] targeted," said the senior cop, who urged Mr. Shirley to surrender to the police no later than 6 p.m. Saturday, May 10.
