Radio Jamaica News has been informed that the men who were fatally shot during a reported confrontation with a police team in Runaway Bay, St. Ann on Wednesday are suspected to be contract killers from Clarendon.
They remain unidentified.
It was reported that the police intercepted a white Toyota Probox with four men about 8:50 p.m., during a special intelligence operation.
The men were reportedly searching for a bartender.
One man reportedly ran from the vehicle while firing at the police.
The police said there was an exchange of gunfire with the three remaining male occupants of the vehicle.
All three were injured and transported to St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Two illegal firearms, an AK-47 rifle and a handgun were reportedly seized.
The fourth man is being sought by the police.
