Tropical wave expected to impact Jamaica weakens

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica is advising that the strong tropical wave that is moving in the vicinity of the Central Caribbean and is expected to impact the island today, has been downgraded.

Evan Thompson, head of the Met Service, says the system has weakened and will no longer have the significant impact that was previously predicted.

But he says there is a 30 per cent chance of development from the system.

Mr. Thompson says a Flash Flood Watch or Warning is not necessary, however, the Met Service is on alert.

He says if the system develops later on Wednesday into Thursday, a warning will be issued.
