Prime Minister of Bahamas, Dr. Hubert Minnis, says US President Donald Trump has promised to look into controversial travel advisories issued by his country which are affecting several Caribbean destinations.
Speaking with reporters following his return after attending a two hour meeting with Mr. Trump on Friday, Mr. Minnis said the development is significant because Bahamas is a tourist destination.
The U.S. State Department last month re-issued a travel advisory recommending visitors use extreme caution in the Bahamas.
Federal officials issued the advisory saying that violent crime, such as burglaries, armed robberies, and sexual assault, is common.
Mr. Minnis told reporters that a travel advisory would likely create unnecessary fear that could damage the local economy.
