Clifton Grant, First Vice-President, UAWU

The University & Allied Workers Union [UAWU] wants a speedy probe into the incident which resulted in Tuesday's strike by drivers attached to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company.

The drivers stayed off the job to protest the physical assault of a female driver by a franchise protection inspector.

A meeting convened by the Ministry of Labour involving the management of the company and the unions of the workers involved arrived at an agreement that resulted in the buses rolling out again late Tuesday afternoon

First Vice President of the UAWU Clifton Grant said the footage of the incident was troubling.
