Radio Jamaica News has been informed that an office of the University of the West Indies (UWI) will shortly have to be relocated from its shared suite at the Jamaican Consulate in New York.
Sources told Radio Jamaica News that the University has been given four months notice to leave.
It is not clear the reason behind the decision to evict the UWI from its longstanding shared space at the Consulate.
Campus Registrar of the UWI Mona, Dr Donovan Stanberry admitted that he'd heard about the situation but said he was not in a position to comment on the matter as it is a university-wide issue.
The Jamaican Consulate in New York, located in Manhattan, announced last year that it would be moving to its new location this year after 20 years.
At the time it was understood that the UWI related office and the offices of Jamaica's UN Mission would also be situated at the new location.
The Consulate recently moved from the corner of 767 Third Avenue and East 48th to a larger office space on 42nd Street in Manhattan.
