Defence attorney Linton Gordon on Thursday suggested that a post-mortem report revealed that Keith Clarke's stomach was empty when he was killed during a police/military operation in 2010.
On May 14, Mr. Clarke's widow Dr. Claudette Clarke testified that on the night in question, her husband came home about an hour after she and their daughter arrived home.
She said he enquired about dinner but she told him that she did not prepare any, as she was out late and was tired.
Dr. Claudette Clarke said after seeing the sad look on her husband's face and feeling guilty, she went to make him a sandwich, which he had in the bedroom.
During cross-examination on Thursday, Mr. Gordon asked Dr. Clarke if she was aware of the post-mortem report.
Pressing further, the attorney asked Dr. Clarke if she would be surprised to know that the post-mortem found Mr. Clarke's stomach to be empty.
In response, Dr. Clarke declared, "I won't argue with science. I know I made a sandwich and I gave it to him and he ate," adding that the post-mortem also shows a lot of other things.
Lance corporals Greg Tingling, Odel Buckley and Private Arnold Henry are being tried for Mr. Clarke's May 2010 murder.
Mr. Gordon will continue his cross-examination on Monday.
