Guyana's Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, Hugh Todd, has told the United Nations that states must exist without threats to their sovereignty and territorial integrity,
Todd has called for the United Nations to honour its charter prohibiting the use of force and help put an end to the Ukraine-Russia conflict through diplomatic and political means.
He made the remarks while addressing the UN Security Council Briefing on the Maintenance of Peace and Security of Ukraine (Political and Security).
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and was chaired by Slovenia, in its capacity as President of the Security Council.
Guyana and Venezuela are currently embroiled in a dispute over Venezuela's attempt to annex the Essequibo region that accounts for two thirds of Guyana's land mass.
