Champion Bubbler creates mild upset to win the Reggae Trophy

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

The longest shot on the board, Champion Bubbler with apprentice Tajay Suckoo, recorded a hattrick of wins after capturing the Reggae Trophy, the feature event on Saturday's 9 race card at Caymanas Park.

The Spencer Chung-trained 6 year old bay mare who went off at 10-1, stalked the leading group of 2-5 favourite Bootylicious, Mamma Mia and Pack Plays before taking command in the last 2 furlongs of the 5 straight GradedStakes and Open Allowance contest for 3 year olds and up.

Champion Bubbler covered the distance in a nippy 59.1 seconds after splits of 23.2 and 46.1, winning by three quarter lengths. Champion Bubbler completed a double for Suckoo, while trainer Adrian Prince saddled three winners.

Racing continues on Sunday with a 9-race card starting at 12:15 pm and featuring  the 5th running of the Kingston and Portmore Trophy events, both trial races for next month's Jamaica 1000 and 2000 Guineas.
