Jamaica to host inaugural Grand Slam Track series in April 2025

Jamaica will host the first leg of the ground breaking cash-rich head to head Grand Slam Track series starting April 4-6 at the National Stadium next year.

Founder of the Grand Slam Track - 4-time Olympic champion Michael Johnson - says he has always been inspired by Jamaica as the sprint capital of the world, so it was an easy decision to have this new professional series start in Jamaica.

Jamaica joins Los Angeles as the other confirmed host city, with the remaining two cities to be revealed later this week.

Three Jamaican athletes have already been signed - World under-20 record holder over 400m hurdles Roshawn Clarke, National 100m hurdles record holder Ackera Nugent and 2-time world 400m hurdles bronze medallist Rushell Clayton.

Johnson says Grand Slam Track is aiming to elevate the sport with head to head competition in Track events with prize money from US$100,000 to 10,000 from first to eight in each event..

US$12.5 million will be spent annually in the event.

Grand slam track will be signing 48 racers and 48 Challengers each year for the to compete over the four meets.
