Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Michael Ricketts says he has concerns about the proposed changes to the CONCACAF final round of World Cup qualifiers known as the "hex". However, he has pledged the JFF's support in respect to the changes that could be made to the  format and dates for the qualifiers because of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Last week, CONCACAF president Victor Montalianni revealed that due to the adjustment to the FIFA match calendar, caused by the spread of Covid-19,  the six team final round of World Cup qualifiers could  be expanded. He also said the world rankings would  be used to seed teams for the new qualifying cycle.

But with speaking Radio Jamaica Sports, Ricketts said although he has spoken with Montagliani, there are still gray areas to be sorted out. However, as for where Jamaica would fall in the new format, Ricketts says he doesn't expect the country's current position in the top six to be  negatively impacted.

Meanwhile, Rickets says  despite the Covid 19 restrictions, the JFF has been putting measures in place to ensure the local based Reggae Boyz  in particular, are ready for the field play when the qualifiers are able begin.

The exact number of teams for the final round of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers will not be known until FIFA reveals its revised international calendar.
