Former Jamaica
batsman Ricardo Powell, the youngest West Indian to score a One Day International (ODI) century
is making a return to the game after retiring in 2006 to concentrate on a
career in business.
Powell agrees four years is a long time, but says he is ready to make a comeback.
"I've have been physically fit over the last four years, I've always maintained my fitness. I have not been playing cricket at the highest level but for someone who's played for seven years at the highest level, I know what it takes to perform at the highest level and that's something that I'm willing to word towards.
"I'm 31-years old now and I think I have a good seven, eight years remaining of playing international cricket," Powell said.
He has scored more than 1,000 ODI runs and hit 75 sixes in 100 ODI innings, a ratio equal to that of Sir Vivian Richards.
Powell moved from Jamaica in 2004 to his wife's native country of Trinidad and Tobago.
Powell, who has only played two test matches in his career - against New Zealand in 1999 and England in 2004, scored a century in his first competitive game on the week-end.
