Reggae Boyz captain and Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches starting on June 6 against the Dominican Republic at the National Stadium.
Following minor knee surgery on Monday it was confirmed that Blake will be out for 4-6 weeks. Blake missed the last four games with the Union due to a knee injury and has been limited to just five starts in 12 games so far in 2024.
Blake had previously reassured the nation that he would be ready to take part in the qualifiers but has failed to recover in time.
Head coach of Philadelphia Union Jim Curtin announced Blake's situation in a pre-game press conference on Tuesday.
The Reggae Boyz will start arriving in the island for next Thursday's qualifiers this weekend.
