Speid's tenure as interim Reggae Boyz coach set to be extended

Rudolph Speid's tenure as interim-head coach of the Reggae Boyz is set to be extended, as the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) contemplates the appointment of the next permanent boss for the senior men's team.

At a board meeting held on Tuesday, the leadership of the JFF upheld the recommendation of the technical committee for Speid and his coaching staff to lead the team into the upcoming Unity Cup which will run from May 26-30 in Charlton, England.

General Secretary of the JFF, Gregory Daley confirmed the decision. However, he stayed away from saying whether or not the decision has been backed by the masses.

Speid was initially appointed as interim coach of the Reggae  Boyz following the resignation of coach Steve McLaren after the failed world cup qualification campaign.

Speid took charge of the team in two games at the intercontinental World Cup playoffs in Mexico, beating New Caledonia 1-0 before losing by a similar scoreline to DR Congo and missing out on a place at the World Cup.

In relation to the appointment of the next head coach, Daley said Speid will have to go through the application process as all other candidates.
