2015 World Under-18 400m champion Chris Taylor has confirmed that he will be sitting out the remainder of the season to make a full recovery from injury. In statement, Taylor said he had discovered since his last run at the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships in March that he had injury which required him to seek extensive treatment.
He noted in the statement: "I have decided to undergo that treatment overseas along with recovery. My focus now is full recovery for the 2019/2020 track and field season.” Taylor also used the statement to further clarify what he described as misinformation leading up to “Champs” including the incident involving the alleged assault of a Physics teacher at Calabar.
The national junior 400 metres record holder reiterated that he was never involved in any physical contact with the teacher. Taylor added that while overseas undergoing his rehabilitation process, he will also be looking at opportunities for tertiary education.
