Annual inflation in health sector up 4.2% at March

Inflationary pressures continue to grip the healthcare sector.

The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) says annual inflation in the "Health" division was 4.2 per cent for the year to March.

Looking at the month of March alone, there was a 0.5 per cent increase in the cost of health and health related services.

The movement was primarily fuelled by a 0.4 per cent rise in the average cost of 'Medicines and Health Products'.

Other key components contributing to the uptick include a 1.2 per cent hike in 'Outpatient Care Services', and 0.6 per cent increase in 'Other Health Services.'
