The Bank of Jamaica on Friday announced the benchmark rate has been reduced by another 25 basis points to 6% per annum from 6.25% per annum.
The bank's Monetary Policy Committee says the decision to ease monetary policy is based on inflation becoming anchored in the target range at 4.3% in November, down from 7.4% in January.
The committee further notes that despite the impact of recent adverse weather on prices, inflation is expected to remain in the target range.
