The Caribbean Development Bank has approved a grant of US$909,000 to The University of the West Indies to bolster water resource management and climate resilience efforts in Jamaica's coastal and inland communities.
This initiative seeks to address critical challenges associated with water security and the impacts of climate change on the island.
According to the World Resources Institute, despite Jamaica's abundant freshwater supply, the country remains one of the 36 most water-stressed nations globally.
By targeting some of the most vulnerable communities, the project aims to enhance water access and security while equipping residents to better cope with the impacts of climate change.
