Local cigarette manufacturer Carreras says it's ready to work with the government on the new tobacco law.
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton last month tabled a new tobacco control bill which is aimed at tackling challenges with mitigating non-communicable diseases.
In a news release, Carreras said since it is likely to be affected when the prospective measures are signed into law, it is eager to contribute to the bill's development.
It says the soon-to-be appointed joint select committee should be given the opportunity to hear the concerns and recommendations of stakeholders such as retailers, wholesalers and distributors.
Carreras highlighted that 26% of the revenue earned by community bars and lounges are generated by cigarette sales.
