Elon Musk announced Twitter's latest push to get people to pay 84 dollars a year or 8 dollars per month for the social network.
Twitter will promote only paid subscribers' tweets, and non-subscribers will not be allowed to vote in polls.
Effective April 15, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations.
Users who have had a free blue checkmark would lose that free verification unless they agree to pay the subscription fee.
The move has been criticised by some social media users.
