Healthcare-related costs up 4.2% as at May

The cost of healthcare and health-related goods and services increased by 4.2 per cent on an annual basis as at May.

For the month of May alone, the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN), says inflation for the 'Health' division was up 0.2 per cent.

A 0.3 per cent rise in the costs associated with 'Medicines and Health Products' influenced the month's performance.

This was linked to higher prices for over-the-counter cough medications and prescribed pain killers.
