Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says the local tourism product has proven resilient after the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
Mr. Bartlett, who was speaking at the "Christmas in July" opening ceremony on Thursday, said no visitors arrived on July 2 and 3.
But since July 4, the day after the hurricane passed, 55,000 tourists have visited Jamaica.
Touting the resilence of the tourism industry, the minister said 80 per cent of the country's assets were still intact after the storm, so visitors were welcome.
The tenth staging of the event has moved to the National Area, with 205 exhibitors - 105 of them new participants.
Mr. Bartlett said in 2023, more the $25 million worth of business was done at the expo.
"Christmas in July" provides an opportunity for businesses to display locally made gift and craft items, and accept orders for or before Christmas.
