National Insurance Fund inflows to pass J$14 billion mark

Inflows to the National Insurance Fund are projected pass the J$14 billion  mark in the new financial year.The Fund manages National Insurance Scheme (NIS) contributions.

According to a public bodies report from the Finance Ministry, net NIS contribution during the 2017/2018 financial year should be $14.5 billion.
   
This is a near $600 million increase over the $13.9 billion in inflows during the current fiscal year.
   
However, the National Insurance Fund will spend $19 billion to provide benefits.  
   
Meanwhile, the National Insurance Fund is to increase its net assets by 4.1 percentage points during the 2017/2018 financial year.
   
The public bodies report states that it will also continue its strategies to increase investments and diversify its income stream.
     
In addition, the Fund will seek to improve compliance and strengthen its legislation.
