Oil prices approach six week high

Oil prices have so far extended Monday's gains, hovering near a six-week high, on signs another storm could affect output in Texas this week.

This occurred even as the U.S. industry struggles to return production after Hurricane Ida wreaked havoc on the Gulf  Coast.

Brent crude for November delivery rose 15 cents shortly after the session's start at $73.66 a barrel.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery climbed 23 cents, to $70 .68 a barrel.
