The OUR's report indicates that the breaches attracted compensation of about $30.2 million by the JPS.

The NWC's guaranteed standards compliance report for the second quarter indicates that 1,545 breaches were committed.

This was a 36 per cent fall when compared to the previous quarter.

Billing issues

Fifty per cent of the calls received by the Office of Utilities Regulation's Consumer Affairs Unit for the second quarter of this year were related to billing issues.

The OUR, in its latest quarterly performance report, said for April to June, 1,268 customers contacted the unit.

Half of the calls related to billing matters which included high consumption discrepancies, disputed charges, adjustments to customers' accounts and estimated billing.

The Jamaica Public Service Company and the National Water Commission continued to account for most of the billing contacts.

Some 28 per cent or 359 of the calls related to the JPS, while NWC accounted for 222 or 18 per cent.
