RJRGLEANER Group pushing ahead with analog to digital switch

Gary Allen, CEO of the RJRGLEANER Communications Group

The RJRGLEANER Communications Group is bullish on executing the switch from analog to digital free to air television.

Chief Executive Officer Gary Allen said the shift, which is costing the group about $1.5 billion, is 30 per cent complete.

Mr. Allen touted the move as being able to "reduce certain expenses [and] increase certain efficiencies".

"It will increase the number of channels that we'll be able to offer to members of the public. It will allow us to advertise in a more geotargeted way. It will allow us to introduce new services and options to consumers," he disclosed.

The government has mandated the digital switch-over to begin in January 2022 and be completed in a year.
