221 awardees recognized for contribution to nation building.

In today's National Honors and Awards Presentation and Investiture Ceremony 221 Jamaicans were recognized for their contribution to nation building.
 
Governor General Sir Patrick Allen presented the awards at Kings House.
 
Ten awardees were conferred with membership in the Order of Jamaica.
 
Thirty were made members of the Order of Distinction Commander class while another group of awardees were given the Order of Distinction Officer class.
 
Six persons were presented with the Badge of Honour for Gallantry while 29 received the Badge of Honour for Meritorious Service.
 
Thirty were awarded the Badge of Honour for Long and Faithful Service in areas such as community development, community service, education, nursing, dentistry and the public service.
 
Seventy-eight members of the uniformed groups representing the Jamaica Defence Force, Jamaica Constabulary Force, the Department of Correctional Service and Jamaica Fire Brigade were given the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service.
