The American tourist who disappeared after disembarking a cruise ship in Ocho Rios, St. Ann last month, was fined $8,000 or one month in prison when he appeared in the St. Ann Parish Court on Tuesday on a charge of overstaying.
The man reportedly told the police his name was Eric Lott.
However, the court on Tuesday heard that his given name is Garfield Sewell.
Sewell was held in Brown's Town on September 25 and later charged with overstaying.
A search had been carried out for Sewell, who is Jamaican born, when he failed to return to the cruise ship on September 13.
Sewell told the court that he was with a woman and when he returned to the port, the ship had already left.
Local police say he is wanted in the US for murder and grand theft auto.
