Prime Minister to convene meeting of National Road Safety Council this week

 
Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has called a meeting of the National Road Safety Council to discuss stemming a spike in deaths on the nation's roadways.
 
The meeting is set for Thursday April 17.
 
This follows the fatal crash along the Rio Nuevo main road in St Mary which claimed the lives of three persons. p
 
The police have stated that driver error and excessive speeding were the cause of the crash.
 
Their deaths pushed the number of lives lost on road crashes since the start of the year to 100 in 94 days. 
 
Dr Lucien Jones, Vice Chair of the National Road Safety Council, told Radio Jamaica News that a concerted effort is needed to have motorists reduce speeding.
