Calabar yet to reinstate student barred due to underperformance

News has emerged that one of the Calabar High School students who was recently barred from entering fifth form is yet to be reinstated despite an instruction from Education Minister Senator Ruel Reid that the group be allowed to attend school.

The mother of the student on Thursday told RJR News that Calabar informed her that she will be contacted next week.

The Education Minister last week stated that Calabar acted illegally when it barred students from going to fifth form because their grade average fell below 60 per cent.

Calabar said the decision was made after several intervention strategies to assist the students.

Senator Reid has stated that based on the flawed procedure adopted, as well as a pending review of the decision, the boys who were barred can attend school.
