The Criminal Investigations Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force says significant progress has been made in apprehending wanted men in Area One in recent weeks.

The area covers Trelawny, St. James, Hanover, and Westmoreland.

Among the fugitives captured is Joseph McKenzie, once listed as the St. James Police Division's most wanted.

He was arrested on August 25 and is facing three murder charges as well as shooting and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Joseph, who leads the Criminal Investigations Branch, says operations will continue in Area One to combat crime.

He says people involved in serious offences are being targeted.

"I wanted to take this opportunity to advise or warn persons who might want to harbour criminals on their premises that it is an offence that you can be charged for. I also want to encourage the persons who are wanted to hand themselves into the police and if the police comes to arrest you, do not resist. Do not challenge the police, because if you challenge the police, we cannot guarantee your safety," he warned.
