Dr Carl Bruce, Medical Chief of Staff at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) has predicted that the worst is yet to come as the aggressive third wave of the coronavirus continues to sweep through Jamaica.
Dr. Bruce, speaking Friday on Radio Jamaica's Beyond the Headlines, said the latest wave has led to a tripling in hospitalizations.
He said the surge in cases has also created a serious challenge for chronically ill patients and overworked health care employees.
Dr. Bruce is urging all eligible persons to get vaccinated to reduce the strain on hospitals.
He is appealing as well to rcovered COVID-19 patients to donate plasma.
