DPP to decide whether charges be laid against soldier who shot policeman in February

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is to rule whether charges should be laid against a member of the Jamaica Defence Force, who is accused of  shooting a policeman in Portmore, St. Catherine, in February.

A file on the incident was reportedly submitted to the DPP last week.

This followed a probe by the St. Catherine South Police.

It was reported that on the night of February 19, the soldier went to his house and saw the policeman with his wife, who is also a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

This led to a dispute, during which the soldier reportedly shot the policeman.

The cop was hospitalised in serious condition.

The soldier was subsequently taken into custody by the military.
