RJR News has been informed that a special meeting of the Electoral Commission of Jamaica has been called for this morning in the wake of the resignation of Director of Elections, Orrette Fisher.
The Commissioners will determine who will be the acting Director of Elections. Deputy Director of Elections Earl Simpson is among those being considered for the post. News came on Wednesday that Mr Fisher had called it quits.
In a letter to staff, he asserted that all was not well at the Electoral Office of Jamaica. He said there was a growing level of political interference affecting the organisation.
