Approximately 20 students at the Guys Hill High School in the central parish of St. Catherine fainted on Monday after they were reportedly affected by noxious fumes on the compound.
Joan Davis, the school's principal, told RJR News that several students who fainted during devotions were taken to hospital, as a result, classes were dismissed early.
"I got a call from the police that they had taken students to the hospital and they were calling me for backup with transportation for other students. Although I sent home the students I'm not sure what will happen tomorrow we may have to keep the school closed until the situation is brought under control," she said.
Davis told RJR NEWS that she informed the Ministries of Education and Health as well as the National Environment and Planning Agency
It's believed that the fumes emanated from a truck spill that took place on the compound school over the weekend.
